The Erwin Perzy studio in Vienna, Austria has been making quality snow globes since around 1900. We started importing them in the early 1980’s. From the first day we displayed them in our showroom, the comment we heard again and again was- “Oh, these are the NICE ones!” The designs are simple, hand painted with care, with lots of snow that swirls around realistically.
When we recently cleaned out our warehouse, we discovered a bunch of the globes that had been set aside because they had either a detached base, or a bubble that was deemed to be too large, or both. I have taken this inventory, and have learned how to restore these globes to their original factory condition. The boxes may be a little musty, but the globes are 100% original materials, including the snow itself.
Bubbles… We need to talk about bubbles. The fact is, almost all of the globes, even when new, had a small bubble, so there needs to be some sort of standard. For now, we ship no 80mm globe with a bubble larger than a dime. Please note that most have a much smaller bubble. Don’t hesitate to ask. It’s OK to talk about bubbles. On the 120mm size, nothing goes out with a bubble larger than a nickel. Again, most will have a much smaller bubble, some none at all.
Please note that some of the globes have a little “Made in Austria” flag on the top of the globe; some don’t. ALL have “Made in Austria” embossed on the bottom of the base. We also include one of our informative “From Austria” cards with every globe.
The 80mm globes are about 4 ½ inches tall, and the globe itself is about 3 inches in diameter. This design is a classic Snowman- complete with top hat, scarf, and carrot nose. A nice touch is the balloon floating from his hand. Remember they are hand painted, so the colors will vary. Buyer pays $6.50 for USPS Priority in the USA. Buyers from elsewhere, please request a quote. Be sure to ask about other designs- I combine shipping and will ship UPS on multiple orders.
